Are there fees for the clinics ?

No, all clinics are free. The Ice Climbing clinics are organized by the Minnesota Climbers Association and are staffed by volunteers.
The winter camping clinics are organized by Hard Water Sports and also free of charge.

Is Robinson Park open for climbing during the festival ?

Yes, Robinson Park in Sandstone Minnesota is open every day for climbing. During the festival a small amount of climbs are reserved for climbing clinics but the rest of the park is open - bring a rope and some top-roping gear.

How much climbing experience do I need before I take an ice climbing clinic ?

Clinic participants must have previous climbing experience, students for any of the clinics need to know:

Do I need my own gear for clinics ?

A limited amount of demo gear will be available for use during the festival. It is recommended that clinic participants come equipped for the class. Rental ice climbing gear is available at

How old do you have to be to take an ice climbing clinic?

Minimum age for climbing clinics is 15. Climbers participating in clinics under the age of 18 must be companied by a parent or guardian.
